WHY WE LOVE IT: High Country Motor Lodge in Flagstaff, Arizona has been on Historic Route 66 since 1962, first as a Howard Johnson, later a Days Inn, and now a fully reimagined 123-room Motique® that leans hard into its mid-century roots. Rooms have in-room tape decks with mixtapes, rustic wood paneling, and an earthy palette inspired by the surrounding ponderosa pine forest.

The General Store serves Roman-style pizza, craft cocktails, and morning coffee, and the Nordic Spa, Arizona’s first, alternates between a sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge. Stargazing parties and live music round out the courtyard experience.
